Create a product comparison chart/Order samples: To create a product comparison chart that lists the typical chemical analysis and physical properties for each selected product, check the box next to the product(s) that you want to view and then click "Compare Products." From this product comparison chart you created, you can order product samples by checking "Order Sample" at the bottom of the chart column for that product and then clicking "Submit."

Mica Technical

The SG product line is an economical wet ground grade of mica, mainly used for dry ground applications. It will however offer the benefits of wet grind processing.

The unique plate-like structure of mica leads to its use in a variety of areas as an extender pigment and filler.

Paints and Coatings - The presence of mica in coatings systems improves suspension, resistance to weathering, surface adhesion, chemical and water resistance. It also reinforces the dried film, reduces shrinkage and blistering and controls chalking. It is used in interior and exterior house paints, in both aqueous and non-aqueous systems, and in surface sealers for pourous surfaces. It is also widely used in automotive finishes to achieve a metallic effect.

Plastics - Mica is used in plastics as a reinforcing material. the presence of mica increases the hardness, reduces warpage and improves the electrical and thermal insulating properties of many plastics.

Other - Mica is used as a filler in thermal insulating boards, brake linings and molded rubber goods. It is also used as a dusting agent to provide a non-stick surface for articles such as, rubber and asphalt roll roofing material.
