Create a product comparison chart/Order samples: To create a product comparison chart that lists the typical chemical analysis and physical properties for each selected product, check the box next to the product(s) that you want to view and then click "Compare Products." From this product comparison chart you created, you can order product samples by checking "Order Sample" at the bottom of the chart column for that product and then clicking "Submit."

Paint and Coatings Resins Copolymer Alkyd

Alkyd resins are produced by reacting a dibasic acid with a polyol and drying oil. These resins are frequently modified to engineer performance properties and finished film characteristics. Such modifications can provide resin coating systems which yield more durable and more rapidly drying films, controlled film gloss and to alter the flexibility, durability and hardness of the dried film.

Styrene modified alkyds are used to formulate fast drying coatings with good adhesion, flexibility and durability. They exhibit better resistance to acid, alkali and water than pure alkyd resins. These resins are used in the formulation of enamels, sealers, toy enamels; coatings for hardware, metal furniture and other miscellaneous metallic substrates.

Vinyl toluene modified alkyds are used to formulate fast drying coatings systems with a high tolerance for aliphatic solvents. Coatings formulated with these resins yield films with good adhesion, flexibility and durability. These resins are used in the formulation of aerosol paints, sanding sealers, maintenance paints, caulking compounds, floor sealers, industrial coatings and toy hardware and metal furniture enamels.

Acrylic modified alkyds are used to formulate fast dry air or bake finishes having good durability and resistance properties. These resins are used to armlet finishes for farm implements, machinery, hardware, metal furniture and highway equipment.

Silicone modified alkyds are used to formulate coatings with excellent durability, toughness, abrasion resistance and resistance to cracking caused by severe temperature changes. These resins are used to formulate exterior enamels and paints used on surfaces reaching temperatures as great as 850° F.
