Epoxy resin esters are produced by reacting epoxy resins with fatty acids. The fatty acid reacts with both the epoxide and hydroxyl groups of the epoxy resin to form the ester. These resins generally possess good chemical resistance, good corrosion resistance and exhibit good adhesion to most substrates. Epoxy resin esters may also be modified with amino resins, acrylic resins or polyisocyanate curing agents to produce epoxy esters designed to possess enhanced properties for specific applications. These resins are used to formulate varnishes, pigmented enamels and primers for wood, metal or concrete surfaces.
