Paint and Coatings Resins Saturated Polyester

Polyester resins are produced by the condensation reaction of a dibasic acid with a polyol. Polyesters differ from alkyds in that the reactants are not from the fatty acid or oil groups. These resins are used to formulate coatings systems with excellent mechanical properties and good anti-sagging properties. These coatings generally yield dried films with good clarity, hardness, mar resistance, flexibility, outdoor durability, moisture resistance and salt spray resistance. These resins are used in the formulation of metal finishes, general industrial finishes, outdoor paint systems and pigmented bake coatings.
